Arrived in Yellow Springs in August 2010
|
I have returned to Yellow Springs where I have fond memories of growing up in the village. A big reason for returning was to enroll my son (see "my special helper" below) in the Antioch school where I attended as a child. I also hope to find my own niche in this artistic town. I am always happiest with a paintbrush in my hand and I have already found painting opportunities here ranging from the domestic to fine arts and many in between. This web page I have made as a sort of history of my painting experience. Mixed Media Artist
I've worked in a variety of media including oil and watercolor which I've shown in the Seattle area. My recent media has been water color and mixed media on printed page with a showing on Whidbey Island WA. in 2010, as well as the Glen Helen Atrium Gallery of Yellow Springs, earlier this year. Decorative EggsWhen I first moved to Whidbey I took a Ukrainian Egg class where I learned the traditional art of Pysanky. It didn't take me long to decide that 'traditional' is not my style, and I began making my own designs. All the eggs shown here are done with the traditional “batik” technique. Each one is an original and some are for sale.
Faux PainterSelf taught in faux painting, I have painted faux stone and marble, (the fireplace mantle in the header image of this website is an example of faux marble. Half of the mantle is true marble and the other half painted.) antique glazes, murals, wood graining, venetian plaster, and more. With decorative painting I find I am able to combine my painting skills with a little creativity to create a completely unique space for my clients.

I attended the School of Visual Concepts in Seattle Wa. from 1991 - 1993. There I studied illustration and design, and took every fine art class they offered.
For over ten years I worked for Albertson Custom Color, painting new custom homes on Whidbey Island. I was foreman for many years, and lead painter for the interior crew. My specialty was detail work and cutting-in dark colored walls to white ceilings. I also did millwork prep, and precision masking, as well as some work with the Airless and HVLP. We worked on many splendid homes, and some not-so-splendid, but they looked much better when we had finished with them.
After art school I worked for ten years as artist assistant and eventually studio manager for
